Arizona Horse Council

Mission Statement:

To preserve, promote and protect the Arizona equestrian lifestyle.

The Arizona Horse Council works throughout Arizona to support, enhance and protect horses, horse owners and horse related activities.  As a broad based, horse interest unifying organization, the Arizona  Horse Council does not endorse a specific position on issues such as horse slaughter or mustang roundups.

American Horse Council

Arizona Horse Council is a registered trade name with the Arizona Department of State - Office of the Secretary of State under the original name of ASHA (Arizona State Horsemen's Association) Agent# 939873

The Arizona Horse Council is Arizona’s Official Affiliate of the American Horse Council, Washington D.C. The organization’s mission is to protect equestrians' rights and promote the equine industry in Arizona.

Organized in the 1960’s, as ASHA, the Arizona Horse Council is member supported by individuals and organizations representing owners, breeders, equine professionals, and horsemen’s associations for youth programs, recreational riding, horse events and commercial suppliers.

This is what the Arizona Horse Council has accomplished for horse owners in the state over the last two years:

  1. Hired a lobbyist to represent issues that impact horse welfare and the equestrian lifestyle
  2. Supported the efforts to put a voluntary rescue registry into law
  3. Supported the efforts to put the Horse Tripping Statute into effect
  4. Raised awareness in the horse community regarding the Maricopa County Text Amendment protecting equestrian activities in rural zoning
  5. Conducted the only Equine Career and Youth Fair in Arizona
  6. Provided animals, volunteers and funds to local schools in support of Black Stallion Literacy Program
  7. Coordinated annual equine statewide summits to identify and form committees on addressing current horse issues
  8. Established the Equine Rescue Registry Program

Thousands of horse owners in Arizona support the Arizona Horse Council through membership to strengthen the equestrian voice in the community!
